![]() Minimum bid (both bids have to add up to some minimum), but we didn't play with that rule. Some people at the party mentioned other rules: (for being short 2 tricks) instead of -60 pts (for not making a bid of 6). However, I saw a BGG video that if you got 4 tricks (and bid 6) you score -20 pts. I was scoring -10 pts/bid for not making the contract. If you bid 10 or more, and make the contract, then you get double points (i.e., 200 pts for making a 10 bid). They also played with an additional rule: If your team gets 10 bags, you get a point penalty (-100 pts).If your team takes more tricks than you bid, you get 1 point (instead of 10 pts) for each additional trick, but also a bag.Since it was a beginner's game, they played without bags. The jokers had be follow suit, and otherwise acted like spades. The two jokers acted like high spades (little and big joker), higher than the ace of spades. The red twos were removed from the deck, replaced with two jokers. When they were teaching new players how to play, they had a different variant than what I remember. There's no dummy hand, and spades are always trump. It reminds me of Bridge, though I've never played Bridge. Spades is a trick-taking card game, played with partners. It was a lot of fun - the first time I've played since college 20 or so years ago. We played Spades at a friend's house the other weekend. r/tabletopgamedesign - Designer's subreddit.r/boardgameexchange - selling/buying/trading games.Game of the Week Calendar Related Sites & Subreddits The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.
